Sketchbook drawing at the Good Companions.

Another pencil drawing from my sketchbook of almost weekly sessions in local pubs. Not sure what that says about me really! Brighton has a huge number of pubs per capita ranging from the cheesy to the traditional to the uber-modern. My favourites are the slightly dingy, down at heel, sit in a dark corner on an overstuffed sofa with a glass of red and candlelight type. I’m thinking of creating a series of drawings/paintings of contemporary pub life – might as well make use of all the drawings and would add to the fan body of work that I did a few years ago, looking at body language in bars and pubs. It would be good to start using some more colour again too. This is a portrait of Natalie who was also sketching in the Good Companions pub…
